On April 13, Honokaa High and Intermediate School’s agriculture program students, led by Agriculture Teacher Manuel Jadulang and Social Studies Teacher Cindy Navarro-Bowman, visited Hokulea docked at Naniloa Hotel in Hilo as part of the ship’s “Mahalo, Hawaii” sail.
Later that day the group visited The Makery Hilo, where students got to see wood manufacturing that utilizes 21st-century equipment such as a laser cutter and CNC machine to make Hawaii-based wood projects. The trip was funded by Hawaii DOE Hawaiian Studies fund and Maui Economics Development STEMworks program.
